Multiple projects and creative circus of ideas puts a delay on the new Stone Umbrella album.
These past 6 months I've been writing material for the new album (that shall remain nameless for now), and I think it's shaping up nicely. At the same time I've been working on three other projects which are also very dear to me, but obviously takes away time from working on Stone Umbrella.
One of the projects is a post metal / post rock kind of deal called Vuori. The debut album could possibly be released this year. There will be more information about this later on with a website and all that jazz.
A second band which I've mentioned before is the collaboration between me and the vocalist from Stone Umbrella. We are constantly working on material but don't see a serious release coming yet. The music is stoner rock and hard rock in nature, and if any of you would be interested in hearing more about it; don't hesitate to contact us.
Lastly I've been writing for a new project that is mainly death and thrash metal. We are currently looking for a vocalist for this project. Again, if there is any interest I would be happy to provide demos and clips.
I will soon be uploading some demos and stuff I've been working on for Stone Umbrella.
Closing in on a release for Level Theatre, but still don't want to put a specific date on it. My excuse is that I pretty much do everything myself, from recording to mixing and the art work. This makes everything a bit chaotic and it's hard keeping deadlines and whatnot. With that said, I see release within a couple of weeks.
As I've mentioned before it's a concept album inspired by a dream I had. It might seem weirder than it actually is. It was written as a single piece of music clocking in on about 45 minutes. Here's the track listing if it's of any interest:
2. Candy from a Clown
3. The Audience
4. Lower Levels
5. The Odd Teacher
6. Hector's Story
7. This Place
8. The Feast
10. Wake Up
11. Faded Lights
It will first be released on Bandcamp (music.stone-umbrella.com) and then a couple of weeks after that it should be up on Spotify, iTunes, and other online outlets.
And as always, thank you for your support.
The Jester's here with a ton of beer.
Writing for the new album (Level Theatre) started late last summer, and was finished a couple of months ago. These last couple of months we've been laying the final touches by rerecording some vocals and lead guitars. Mixing is under way and almost finished. We don't have release date just yet unfortunately because of some issues with the album art.
It's a conceptual art rock / proggish album with 11 tracks, that tells the story of a traveling man ending up in a theatre / community of crazy but beautiful people. Where he meets old friends, clairvoyant painters and strange teachers.
After the release of Level Theatre I plan to take a short break from writing for Stone Umbrella and do more of a collaborative writing project with Niclas (vocalist in Stone Umbrella). We'll be writing together and draw inspiration from both of our worlds (being prog rock, stoner rock, psychadelic rock, heavy blues and hard rock).
Even though all my energy wont be going to writing for Stone Umbrella, there actually is a bunch of new material written for Stone Umbrella aimed to end up on the next album after Level Theatre.
Last but not least here's a new preview from Level Theatre released a couple of weeks ago. Click here.
After working on The Visitor on and off since 2009 it's finally done. Available through several online outlets including iTunes, Spotify, Deezer etc.
The Visitor is the first part of the science fiction "film soundtrack without a film"-trilogy that the first Stone Umbrella album Escape is part of. It tells the story of a demigod type entity that scouts our solar system.
The story is told through the eyes of this visitor scanning and analyzing our planets when finally arriving to Earth, and then moving on the sun and back home to whatever star this entity came from.
